The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pure 2024 brings back the spirit of the iconic Microbus in a fully electric package, tailored for families and urban adventurers seeking an affordable entry into EV vans. As the base trim in Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz lineup, the Pure variant stands out with its compact Normal Wheelbase (NWB) design, making it perfect for city driving while offering surprising versatility. Built on the MEB platform, this 2024 model combines nostalgic styling with modern electric efficiency, though it’s primarily available in European markets.
The ID. Buzz Pure captures the essence of the original 1960s VW Bus with its rounded shape, two-tone color options, and signature V-shaped front. Measuring 4,712 mm in length with a 2,989 mm wheelbase, it’s nimble for parking in tight spots, boasting an impressive 11.1-meter turning circle. LED headlights and a honeycomb grille add a contemporary touch, while 18-inch wheels keep it grounded.
Available in vibrant colors like orange-white or green-white combos, the Pure trim emphasizes practicality over flash. Roof rails are absent as standard, but towing up to 1,000 kg braked makes it suitable for light trailers or bikes.
Powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering 170 hp (125 kW) and 310 Nm of torque, the ID. Buzz Pure accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.7 seconds—adequate for family duties but not thrilling. Top speed is electronically limited to 145 km/h, prioritizing efficiency.
Rear-wheel drive provides a balanced feel, with a compliant suspension that absorbs bumps well. It’s whisper-quiet inside, making highway cruises relaxing despite the van’s 2,367 kg curb weight.
At the heart is a 59 kWh usable lithium-ion battery (63 kWh nominal), offering a WLTP range of 331 km. Real-world estimates hover around 265 km combined, dropping to 230 km in cold weather or 190 km on highways. For urban use, expect up to 300 km in mild conditions.
Charging is straightforward: 11 kW AC for home (full in 6.5 hours) and up to 165 kW DC fast-charging (10-80% in 24 minutes). Plug & Charge support and navigation-based preconditioning enhance usability, though no bidirectional charging is available.
Seating six in two rows of three, the Pure offers flexible space with 1,121 liters of cargo behind the second row, expanding to 2,123 liters. High roofline ensures easy entry, and large windows provide excellent visibility.
Basic cloth seats are comfortable, with Isofix points for child seats. The cabin feels airy and modern, though plastic-heavy in this trim.
The Pure comes with an infotainment system featuring a 10-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and VW’s IDA voice assistant. Safety includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and front/rear parking sensors. Optional heat pump improves cold-weather efficiency.
While functional, the interface can feel fiddly, relying on touch sliders for climate control—a common critique in ID. family vehicles.
In Europe, the ID. Buzz Pure 2024 starts at around €49,990 in Germany or €49,990 in the Netherlands (before incentives). This positions it as an accessible EV van, undercutting higher Pro or GTX trims with their larger 77-86 kWh batteries and AWD.
Note: In the US, the equivalent base 2025 ID. Buzz Pro S starts at $61,545 with a longer 234-mile EPA range and 282 hp, but lacks the “Pure” designation. Check local dealers for imports or wait for regional variants.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pure 2024 excels as a charming, practical EV for European families prioritizing style, space, and affordability over long-range prowess. If your drives are mostly urban or short-haul, it’s a standout choice that revives VW’s van legacy electrified. For more power or range, step up to Pro or consider US-spec models. Test drive one at your local VW dealer to feel the Buzz!
